Against the last years of socialism and the accession to capitalism that followed, a young woman, Marcela, evolves, shaped by the personal difficulties she continually confronts: divorce, single parenthood, unemployment, the death of a child. Originally part of ‘Marriage Etudes’, a long-term documentary project for television begun in 1980 and focusing on the lives of six married couples, Marcela‘s story, now twenty-five years in the making, shows that one ordinary person‘s life can be the most compelling of dramas.
