About the film

The intimate psychological film Faithless Games is a feature film debut of the author of animated films Michaela Pavlátová and Slovak screenwriter Tina Diosi. A simple story about a marital crisis between a Slovak composer, Petr, and a Czech pianist, Eva, who live in a village on the Slovakian-Hungarian border, provides sufficient space for a sensitive study of interpersonal relationships. The couple lives in a country house with a large garden. While Peter is immersed in his work (time that he splits up between necessary gigs and his independent creations), Eva gets more and more bothered by his negligence and the fact that she cannot assert herself professionally here. She tries to find a way out through a love affair with the worldly cellist Andrej, but she soon realizes it is a mistake. Peter is secretly worried about her infidelity and gradually reconsiders his actions. In the end, they both realize that their marriage has a chance… The divorced neighbor Mária and her twelve-year-old daughter Janka also enter the story. They move into a house on Peter and Eva’s property. The music of the young composer Petr Hromádka is important in the film, and an important element is the location of the story in the Slovak-Hungarian environment, which is confronted several times with a city lifestyle.
