About the film
The film should resemble a kaleidoscope of various comic, tragic, and banal fragments of human existence. The authors wanted to cover the entire register of current issues in a way that their tangled vortex would stress the ridiculousness and the horrors of the petty existence of many of us. In this film, director Věra Chytilová’s last so far, apart from the six “main” characters, we see a whole range of minor roles representing the patients of Hana, a psychologist. They talk about their problems and hardships in life through psychological consultations. The director cast well-known Czech actors in these roles, often those who appeared in her previous films.
