Synopsis
The series The Dead Forest And Other Bullshit presents the best short films that were created in collaboration between director Pavel Marek and director of photography Roman Včelák between the years 1983 and 1993. On the amateur film scene, their group callet Bullshitfilm caught the audience’s attention with their unconventional poetics inspired by dreams and unconscious experiences.

About the film
The series Mrtvý les a jiný bulšit (The Dead Forest and Other Bullshit) composes of four short films. The opening film, Narozeniny v parku (Birthday in the Park, 1987) was shot in Petřín gardens in only one day. An aging birthday person desperately begs Kašpar to make him younger. The black-and-white film Sklizeň (The Harvest, 1992) is a rough story of two old women in a hospital room, which at that time caused controversy at FAMU about filmmaking ethics. The basis of the screenplay for the film Vychovatel ke strachu (Tutor in Fear, 1989) was created using the technique of psychic automatism in the summer of 1987. The character of the educator is a personification of an imagined fear and threat. The educator appears mysteriously on his ancient skis at the beginning of the film and disappears in the same mysterious way at the end. The last film in the series is Mrtvý les (The Dead Forest, 1990), a strange story of a frustrated mycophagus and his wife, an autosexual psychoerotic. Actor Tomáš Hanák appeared here in one of his first film roles.
The original film music was composed by Milan Guštar; other permanent collaborators included Dalibor Fencl, Lucie Simerová, Andrea Landovská, and Martin Radimecký.
